NS Power is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join the Standards team in the role of Automation and Work Methods Engineer, reporting to the Distribution Standards Manager. In this role the engineer will be responsible for developing distribution standards and standard work methods.

NS Power is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join the Standards team in the role of Automation and Work Methods Engineer, reporting to the Distribution Standards Manager. In this role the engineer will be responsible for developing distribution standards and standard work methods.
Key elements of this role include:
- Be a leader in working safely and efficiently. Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and create a safety culture where safety is first, and employees are recognized for safe performance and compliance with safety regulations and safe work practices.
- Creation and updating of Standards for the distribution systems, with a focus on automation. These documents are drawings and instructions that are used by field staff to construct the Nova Scotia Power distribution system.
- Creation and updating of Standard Work Methods for underground (UG) and overhead (OH) distribution systems. These documents are procedures that are used by technicians for the safe installation and maintenance of the many assemblies that make up the NSPI distribution system.
- Provide technical guidance, instruction and assistance related to these work methods and standards.
- Approval of Tools and Equipment used in the execution of work as defined in Standard Work Method(s).
- Development and modification of Distribution Engineering Practices, used by engineers throughout the organization that are involved in design and automation of the distribution system.

- Electrical Engineering degree
- Registered Professional Engineer (or eligible for registration as a P.Eng) with Engineers NS
- Familiarity with distribution assets and system design, construction and/or operation is considered beneficial
