Position Description:
Ensure compliance to the GVOSS (Global Vehicle Operations Structured Standards) Review supplier tooling and conveyor designs for compliance to the Ford VOSS, for both hardware and programming. GVOSS contains all the standards for tooling and conveyors for Ford North America. Approve/reject GVOSS deviations as required. Determine if a deviation is necessary. Develop and propose GVOSS enhancements for cost, quality and performance. Review new controls concepts and designs. Develop and implement improvements to control systems and equipment using Factory Information Systems (FIS) data. Lead capital project teams, develop capitol appropriations requests and manage the projects from concept through commissioning. Lead costing for controls related to tooling and conveyors find acceptable cost reduction opportunities. Including writing scopes of work for controls in tooling and conveyors. Lead risk assessment for controls programming and controls hardware changes. Write functional descriptions; develop tooling and conveyor scopes of work, assist in writing scopes of work. Lead problem solving to assist plants and implementation teams in resolving tooling and conveyor performance issues. Lead trouble shooting; coordinate resources to find root cause and fixes, manage and breakdown problems into items that can be validated. Determine proper validation methods. Assist in the training of manufacturing personnel and plant electricians. Assist in integration of controls into IT systems like Factory Information Systems (FIS), Error Proofing, and Next Generation Automated Vehicle Scheduling.
Skills Required:
Supplier project management skills preferred CPARS/MEARS experience preferred FIS reports (running and analyzing) preferred Competency in MTTR/MTBF and the FRED process preferred Backgrounds in Controls Design and PLC programming preferred Automotive manufacturing experience preferred Rockwell PLC (Control Logix) and other Rockwell components required VFD experience required RSLogix 5, 500, 5000; RSView and Factory Talk knowledge preferred Robots (Fanuc) Ethernet IP for controls required Vision systems preferred
Experience Required:
Problem solving skills using statistics (6 Sigma Black Belt preferred) Ability to lead 8D MS Office Application competency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Project Management skills Strong interpersonal skills Strong written and oral communication skills Systems Engineering (Electrical and Mechanical) skills
Education Required:
BS in Electrical Engineering or 5 years minimum controls experience + engineering degree
