Job Description
Job Title: Radiologic Technologist
Job Specialty: Radiology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 4 10-hour shifts per week (1 p.m. - 11 p.m.), or 5 8-hour shifts (3 p.m. - 11 p.m.) with rotating weekends
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 2 years imaging-related experience preferred
License: Active Radiologic Technologist License
Certifications: ARRT Radiography Registration through The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Basic Life Support Certification
Must-Have: Associates in Radiology
Job Description:
- Perform radiologic procedures with all x-ray equipment, as requested by a physician.
- Introduce yourself to patients and fully explain the exam before starting.
- Obtain proper patient history, including allergies, menstrual history, and other relevant clinical information.
- Position patients correctly to minimize radiation exposure, using proper shielding, collimation, and immobilization devices.
- Inform patients of delays exceeding 15 minutes from the scheduled appointment time.
- Keep work areas clean and stocked, check emergency kits, oxygen, and suction, and report low supplies.
- Practice sterile techniques when required and assist the radiologist during fluoroscopy and special procedures.
- Learn and utilize the hospital and radiology information systems, as well as the PACS system.
- Stay updated with any new policies or procedures by checking bulletin boards and mailboxes daily.
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
This role requires demonstrated clinical competency, developed communication skills, a high degree of independent action, the ability to manage multiple tasks under stress, and compassionate patient care. Education must be completed from a recognized College or University, and additional education may substitute for experience as long as it complies with certification/license requirements.
