General Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Senior CI/Process Specialist is to guide process improvement projects across assigned clinical areas of Bayhealth. The focus of this position will be to support: the efficient and effective design of work environments for patients; optimal clinical and safety outcomes; enhancement of patient experience; and achievement of cost reductions where appropriate.
The position is dedicated to the provision of lean/performance improvement expertise and analytic support to high-priority quality and safety initiatives. This will include support to environmental design and process development. The incumbent will define deliverables, structure project work-plans and provide leadership with recommendations.
The Senior Specialist is responsible for coordinating education and leading Bayhealth employees and physicians on the journey to become a high reliable organization in collaboration with the Senior Director of Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement and in coordination with other experts in the Performance Improvement Department. The Specialist will prepare diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports for defining reliability problems and make recommendations for improvements. Provide oversight to variance indicators and identified issues with lack of reliability associated with processes. The Specialist facilitates performance improvement teams in collaboration with multiple clinical team leaders and senior administrators. The Specialist will participate in PI organization building activities and communicate PI targets and processes to the broader organization to increase engagement and solicit new process improvement opportunities.
The incumbent will interact with senior leaders, medical staff members and subject matter experts to develop solutions that improve process performance by increasing productivity and efficiency and/or managing process demand while enhancing the customer experience.
This position requires an individual with a strong background in process improvement, healthcare, and the ability to deliver significant business results. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Responsibilities:
1. Supports activities of overall process improvement and high reliable outcomes.
2. Reports and communicates the results from process improvement efforts to leadership and key stakeholders including C-suite executive and other senior leaders
3. Advises divisional, departmental, and PI staff on process improvement topics to implement and sustain changes
4. Builds strong relationships to enhance collaboration with leadership and staff.
5. Engages people and develops them through teamwork and a high level of participation
6. Assesses change readiness and prepares plans for helping stakeholders through change
7. Provides training and mentorship on process improvement methods
8. Utilizes process improvement principles and tools to achieve significant improvement results
9. Provides primary facilitation for teams focused on process improvement.
10. Drives for high quality, actionable results
11. Actively communicates identified quality and safety issues to Senior Director of Quality, Safety and Continuous Improvement and senior executive leadership at Bayhealth.
12. Will actively participate in the development of key performance indicators associated with pertinent improvement activities for the purpose of tracking and measuring success.
13. Partners with Senior Director of Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement, Leadership and Finance to develop and track project metrics
14. Monitors performance and improvement in key metrics
15. Delivers operational and financial improvements to meet or exceed annual targets
16. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor Degree
; Business Administration
; Or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management, Engineering, Healthcare Quality Management, or related field required. - Credential(s): Six Sigma Lean Black Belt Certified
; - Experience:
Required: Three (3) years of direct application of the Lean methodology or equivalent process improvement experience in a healthcare setting. Trained in the tools and techniques of process improvement methodology. Project management experience and project teams. Three (3) years of experience facilitating improvement projects, utilizing knowledge of performance improvement tools and techniques (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) in a hospital setting. Proven success in supporting Lean, performance improvement or project management activity. Experience in environment and process original design.
Preferred: Two (2) years' experience in a Six Sigma Black Belt Specialist position in a healthcare setting. Versatile in the improvement science tools and techniques of Lean process improvement methodology. Project management experience and teams.
