Position Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence and Data, the Senior Data Engineer will design, develop, and maintain the data architecture required to support advanced analytics and business intelligence initiatives across Heartland Veterinary Partners. This role will focus on integrating disparate and legacy data sources, building scalable data pipelines, and optimizing data workflows to enable the organization's analytics capabilities. This is a full-time remote role. Candidates located within Heartland's geographic footprint will be prioritized.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust, scalable data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from various fragmented and legacy systems.
  • Collaborate with the Director of BI and Data and other team members to define the architecture for data warehousing and data integration solutions.
  • Develop and maintain data models and schemas to support analytics, reporting, and data science initiatives.
  • Optimize the performance of databases and data workflows to ensure reliability and scalability.
  • Monitor performance of data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes, databases and data warehouses, resolve issues, and implement optimizations to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and security through governance best practices, monitoring, data auditing, and collaboration.
  • Provide technical leadership in selecting and implementing tools and platforms for data engineering tasks.
  • Document processes and mentor junior team members to promote knowledge sharing and best practices.


Requirements/Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, Databricks, and modern ETL tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow, Talend, or Informatica).
  • Experience designing and maintaining data warehouses and data lakes.
  • Familiarity with integrating fragmented and legacy data sources into unified platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Pay Range

USD $130,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
