The Tennessee Titans are looking for a dynamic and strategic-minded individual to serve as the Vice President, Football Communications. Reporting to the Vice President of Communications and Corporate Affairs, this individual will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communications strategies that enhance the visibility, reputation, and brand of the Tennessee Titans football team.

Responsibilities:

Media Relations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national sports media, including print, digital, and broadcast outlets.
  • Manage all media requests and press availability for players, coaches, and football personnel.
  • Ensure consistency in football messaging and serve as a spokesperson for the organization.


Player & Team Media Support
  • Cultivate relationships with players, football executives and staff, and key internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted guide in team messaging and media activities.
  • Provide media coaching and training for players, coaches, and football personnel to ensure effective and strategic communication with the press.
  • Develop talking points and key messaging for players and coaches ahead of media engagements.
  • Provide regular reports on recent coverage and external narratives.


Content & Storytelling
  • Work with internal content teams to create compelling football-related narratives that showcase the team, players, and coaches.
  • Identify and pitch stories that align with the team's brand and values.


Game Day & Event Responsibilities
  • Lead gameday football communications efforts, including press box operations, media access coordination, and post-game interview processes.
  • Oversee the production of media guides, weekly game releases, and statistical reports.
  • Manage all logistics for press conferences, team media days, and major team events such as the NFL Draft, Training Camp, and playoffs.


Crisis Communications
  • Manage crisis communications and issues management for the football program, serving as a spokesperson and coordinating responses as needed.
  • Work closely with the corporate communications team, legal, and football operations teams to craft strategic responses to high-profile issues.


Team Management & Leadership
  • Lead and mentor the football media relations staff, ensuring alignment with best practices and industry standards.
  • Foster strong collaboration with football operations, marketing, corporate communications, and community relations teams.


Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in an NFL club communications department.
  • Background in journalism, public relations, or media production.
  • Strong understanding of digital and social media's role in modern sports communication.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in media relations, public relations, or sports communications, with a focus on football.
  • Proven leadership experience in an NFL, collegiate, or major sports media environment.
  • Strong relationships with national and local football media.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messaging under tight deadlines.
  • Experience handling crisis communications and sensitive media issues.
  • Deep knowledge of NFL media policies, football operations, and game rules.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to travel and work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
