Summary
The Diagnostic Radiology Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the diagnostic area, coordinating the scheduling, staffing, equipment assignment, and patient flow. Responsible for the supervision and direction of the staff and scheduling of staff on rotations and other assignments.
Job Description
Conducts performance appraisals and has the authority to recommend, reward and/or discipline. Observes, evaluates, and participates in the educational process of students. Ability to function independently and able to assume the duties of department supervisor as necessary. Possesses the skills and knowledge of diagnostic x-rays. Ability to perform related procedure and protocols. Ability to learn new technology and orient new technologists.
Demonstrates leadership qualities to provide direction to staff and to handle inter and intradepartmental conflicts. Possesses the ability to professional obtain information from patients or their responsible parts to further improve their personalized treatment and care. On a continuum, the technologist works to develop an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status. May supervise different modalities as necessary.
Qualifications
Completion of formal radiographic technology training in an American Medical Association (AMA) or Joint Review Committee
on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved school is required.
Minimum of three years of radiographic experience is required; previous supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Possesses a thorough understanding of diagnostic radiographic principles.
Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure with the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
