The Opportunity

This position works out of our Livermore, CA office in the Abbott Heart Failure, Acelis Connected Health business. Our Heart Failure solutions are helping address some of the World's greatest healthcare challenges.

As the Regulatory Compliance Specialist, your primary responsibility is to maintain and obtain state durable medical equipment licensing, including supporting accreditation activities. This position will support the day-to-day operations for various regulatory activities including regulatory change management, audit preparation, submissions to regulatory bodies, correspondence, and record keeping.

What You'll Work On
  • Maintain and obtain durable medical equipment licenses and other state licenses as appropriate.
  • Support day-to-day operations for regulatory activities throughout the organization, including maintaining Joint Commission accreditation.
  • Support regulatory change management, audit preparation, submissions to regulatory bodies, correspondence, and record keeping.
  • Support with researching and auditing rules, regulations, and compliance standards as appropriate.
  • Prepares/reviews materials, including marketing materials, and develops training for regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and assess compliance to state regulatory requirements
  • Draft and review policies and procedures.
  • Maintains patient information in accordance with HIPAA PHI and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops and monitors productivity and quality to ensure standards are met.
  • Assists in a variety of Licensure, Regulatory, and Ethics & Compliance projects.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline in healthcare administration, public health, public policy, business, etc. or any other related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of healthcare compliance or regulatory experience required.
  • Competencies Required: Business Acumen, Healthcare Compliance, Project Coordination, Change Management Coordination.
  • A team player, adept at building relationships within the team and across the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate consistent customer focus.
  • Possesses excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills to meet commitments and deadlines.
  • Maintains the highest professional and ethical standards in conducting day-to-day business.
  • Strong at execution, follow-up, and attention to detail.
  • Represents the Company in a positive, customer friendly attitude to other employees, clients, patients, agencies, and entities.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required.
  • Must have knowledge of general office procedures using office equipment.
  • Maintains professional personal appearance.
  • Adheres to all Company HIPAA compliance regulations, business and professional ethics, and confidentiality and privacy regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Multi-State Licensing experience (e.g., Board of Pharmacy, Department of Health, Public Health, etc.).
  • The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation experience (e.g., Home Health, DME, Ambulatory, Hospital, etc.).
  • Experience or knowledge of Medicare (e.g., IDTF, DMEPOS) and various state Medicaid programs.
  • Holds or has interest in obtaining professional certifications (e.g., CHC, CJCP, CPHQ, CAPM, PMP, etc.) a plus.
  • Experience or knowledge of the 7 Elements of an Effective Compliance Program (HHS).
  • Commitment to process improvement and the ability to think "out of the box".
  • Strong leadership experience, including excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to recognize performance quality and motivate others towards improved performance.
  • Recognizes the entire scope of an issue and participate objectively towards resolution with other team members.
  • Takes initiative to learn Company organization and procedures.

The base pay for this position is
$83,500.00 - $153,300.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
