Job Description
The Assistant Clinical Services Manager role will support the day-to-day operations, provide leadership to a multi-disciplinary and inter-professional team to employ best practices, ensure effective communication and efficient processes in the delivery of safe, high-quality, and compassionate care for patients served within the Seniors Health program. Optimal resource allocation, identification and application of best practices and incorporation of stakeholder feedback in consultation with program leadership are critical success factors in this role. Respectful interactions and collaboration with patients and families are core expectations of this role.
This position will report to the Clinical Program Director of Seniors Health, Rehab, CCC and Transitional Care Program to ensure the program goals and objectives are met in alignment with the corporate and program strategic plans. The position provides day to day leadership in the Seniors Health program and stands in for the CSM, as required (e.g., during absences).

Minimum: $104,227.50
Maximum: $130,279.50

Job Description

Accountabilities:
High Quality and Safe Patient Care:
- Supports the implementation of best/leading practices, quality documentation and accountability models
- Facilitate an inter-professional collaborative approach to care, recognizing and maximizing the unique contribution of each team member
- Works collaboratively with the CSM and Program Director to identify gaps in processes, policies and procedures and support the sustainable delivery of excellent patient-centered care
- Monitors and responds in a timely manner to quality, safety, risk, patient experience and other performance/outcome indicators
- Promotes and facilitate a safe and therapeutic environment in accordance with best practices for the provision of care
- Responds and addresses issues and or concerns identified by patients and families and internal and external stakeholders in a timely fashion
- Coordinates resolution of issues/concerns/ related to operational activities across the BCH Emergency Department to ensure issues are addressed and teams are supported
- Provides oversight in the development and evaluation the operational plan for the services, including ensuring team accountability and evaluation of the service / patient care outcomes
- Works collaboratively with the CSM and inter-professional team members- assess operational (workflow, systems, processes and tools), clinical and educational needs within services units on an ongoing basis
- Other duties as assigned
People Development and Team Building
- Fosters open communication, learning, and professional growth of the team
- Provides the clinical and service-level expertise essential to effective problem solving and decision making
- Initiates action and reports to the CSM, when staff behavior and/or performance do not meet professional standards and will independently manage the performance of a defined group of staff members
- In conjunction with the CSM, change manage to support Attendance Awareness Program
- In collaboration with the CSM, change manage to support recruitment and selection process
- Provide support to the CSM in the completion of performance evaluations.
- Cultivates effective inter-professional relationships at all levels
- Creates an environment that empowers individuals to take ownership and responsibility for their actions, promote staff initiative and nurture high morale and engagement
- Demonstrates relevant on-going professional development and commitment to continuing development
- Leads by example, fostering the Values of the organization, with a focus on leadership visibility and just-in-time support
Clinical Resource Utilization Management
- Manages all staffing requirements cost-effectively in meeting the daily operational needs
- Identifies issues and challenges; monitor trends requiring targeted interventions and change in practice patterns or processes
- Assists the CSM to monitor the service budget and explain variances to ensure cost effective resources
- Assists the CSM with monitoring the daily staffing needs and schedules for the services / centers
- Provides value-added point of care resources to ensure and optimize safe and effective patient-centered care
- Supports the CSM with the completion of time keeping, shift changes, payroll completion and approval
Qualifications
- Must be a regulated Health Care Professional and/or a minimum of 5 years in a patient facing clinical role.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience an asset
- Regulated Health Professional in good standing with their governing body.
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support certification, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PAL's an asset.
- Demonstrated effective communication, team building, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and work collaboratively with all levels and members of the inter-professional team.
- Demonstrated effective judgment and innovative change management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize quality, safety, risk and patient experience -based frameworks to facilitate and build the use of critical thinking, priority setting and problem-solving skills across the team.
- Knowledge of collective agreements and working experience in a unionized environment preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail oriented with excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to travel between sites.
