Wood is recruiting for a Logistics Manager (contract) to join its Projects West business focusing on Minerals and Metals. This opportunity is site based. and is located at our construction site in Saskatchewan.
The Role
The Logistics Manager will coordinate the shipping and logistics tasks for assigned projects and will work with buyers, project managers and construction managers to ensure materials for assigned projects are transported on time and in accordance with the packing and shipping requirements of the project.

Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities
- Provide guidance, direction, and support to all relevant stakeholders on both company and suppliers' specific contractual obligations and responsibilities.
- Establish and chair regular shipment status meetings with client, procurement, engineering, materials management, construction, and project management personnel.
- Establish priorities, assign workloads, and review the more difficult and complex aspects of major shipments.
- Ensure the project logistics team has a clear understanding of their roles, transportation processes and procedures and provides guidance, direction, and support.
- Create Project Traffic Plans for assigned projects and develops any project specific shipping or material handling procedures.
- Monitor and report the status of the Project Material Plans and transportation status to the project teams.
- Identify and recommend possible solutions to resolve delays to the project schedules.
- Independently consolidate and analyze information from various sources to develop effective logistics plans.
- Research available routes and modes of transportation for cargo to determine the most efficient and economical method and of shipment and carrier. Provides transportation options to decrease costs.
- Coordinate shipments with service providers for direct shipments. Coordinate with freight forwarders to book import & export cargo and foreign to foreign cargo. Work with brokers, agents, or forwarders to charter vessels, barges, and other specialty carriers as needed to support project construction and installation.
- Prepare, review, consolidate and distribute all documents required for shipment including commercial invoices, destination and end use statements, NAFTA Certificates of Origin, etc. Maintain files for imported materials.
- Prepare Cargo Insurance declarations / certifications.
- Ensure necessary export documentation is created in a timely manner and all regulatory requirements for the exporting and importing countries are satisfied.
- Review, verify, code and submit for approval, freight invoices for the freight payment company (invoice authorization).
- Provide estimates of project shipping costs for proposals.
- Facilitate bids, negotiate terms, and form final agreements with regards to transportation and movement of materials.
- Responsible for strategic planning phases of the project, authoring execution plans and logistics studies.
- Write scopes of work, and manage third party studies such as route surveys, transportation modeling, bathometric surveys, marine unloading investigations, etc.

Expected:
- Bachelor's degree in management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or related field preferred or years related experience in traffic/logistics and supply chain or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Exceptional organization and project planning skills with ability to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities.
- Strong understanding of the Transportation & Logistics function.
- Ability to travel domestically and globally as needed.
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 15 years' proven progressive experience in a similar position.
- Detailed understanding of key transportation concepts, principles, and a strong understanding of commercial terms and conditions.
- Experience in executing projects utilizing robust material management ERP systems such as Convero, AVEVA, SmartPlant, and SAP.
- Extensive knowledge of international freight transactions, customs requirements and commercial shipping terms.
- Knowledge of industry logistics providers and their particular regional proficiencies.
- Must be familiar with Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security Export Administration regulations and resources.
- Must be very well versed and knowledgeable with International Chamber of Commerce's Incoterms 2020.
- Progressive shipping and logistics experience in a technical environment, with central group or projects including global supply chain management.
- Experience with industry Supply Chain principles and techniques.
- Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and presentation skills
- Ability to interact effectively with suppliers and team members
