POSITION SUMMARY:
Serves as an advanced clinically based practitioner within four distinct domains: clinical practice/clinical consultation, education, research utilization and leadership. The Director of Education utilizes nursing, change, and education theories as a foundation for clinical practice. Functions as an "expert" nurse who facilitates the development of the nursing staff while simultaneously advancing professionalism in nursing, specifically in the areas of clinical practice, education, research utilization and leadership.

The Director of Education utilizes nursing, change, and education theories as a foundation for clinical practice. Functions as an "expert" nurse who facilitates the development of the nursing staff while simultaneously advancing professionalism in nursing, specifically in the areas of clinical practice, education, research utilization and leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the competent, safe and humanistic approach to the delivery of patient care.
- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates appropriate training activities to ensure the delivery of safe quality patient care.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current nursing theory with respect to clinical modalities to the nursing staff.
- Serves as a clinical resource to nursing personnel providing consultation as needed through sharing of expertise, providing information, demonstrating technical skills, and relating theoretical concepts to clinical practice.
- Assists the Nursing Directors in the development and monitoring of annual competency assessments.
- Evaluates the learning needs of personnel by performing on an annual basis a learning needs assessment.
- Prepares and delivers educational programs for all skill levels of personnel.
- Reviews results of monitoring and evaluation activities hospital wide and plan education related programs based on these reports.
- Assumes responsibilities for all school affiliations.
- Collaborates with Nursing Directors in developing, monitoring and revising clinical indicators, especially in applying statistical tools and analysis.
- Is attentive to detail and commits to finding the root cause to solve problems.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:
- Education: BSN required; MSN preferred
- Experience: 5 years' experience as an RN in a hospital setting; previous clinical teaching experience in healthcare
- License/Certification: RN in the State of Florida; BLS/ACLS/PALS Instructor
Must clear background and drug test required.
