Job Description
Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Director of Technical Accounting and Policy, the Manager, Technical Accounting and Policy, will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports that support strategic decision-making and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves overseeing compliance with accounting standards and will serve as a key resource for technical accounting issues, including the interpretation and application of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.

This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office, in New York, NY, a minimum of three days per week.

Job Description
Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Director of Technical Accounting and Policy, the Manager, Technical Accounting and Policy, will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports that support strategic decision-making and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves overseeing compliance with accounting standards and will serve as a key resource for technical accounting issues, including the interpretation and application of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Research and perform data comparisons and audits, providing corrective measures to ensure accuracy and validity of data reported from Business Units throughout NBCU.
- Manage NBCU's lease database including the data inputs and outputs and resulting monthly journal entries.
- Field questions from the BU HQ operating lease contacts and direct accordingly.
- Review documents to identify accounting issues and propose solutions or alternatives.
- Perform appropriate research, documentation and accounting resolution for new and/or proposed transactions. Support analysis for complex transactions and accounting issues, providing guidance on appropriate treatment and documentation.
- Assist with the end-to-end implementation of accounting policies and best practices. Support communication across the organization and present position to wide audience.
- Participate in business process re-design to support a Global Controllership organization.
- Assist in performing complex analysis and interpretation of data to identify trends, potential impacts, and areas requiring special consideration.
- Support accurate financial reporting across NBCU.
- Ensure accuracy in financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards such as GAAP or IFRS.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather necessary financial data and provide insights that aid in operational efficiency and profitability.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Accounting and 5+ years of work experience within big four professional accounting firms
- Solid knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and internal controls over financial reporting
- CPA license required to be maintained
