ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will work to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare by providing direct patient care for behavioral health services. The primary responsibilities are to meet with individuals, families, and groups of patients to provide behavioral psychotherapy services. This role will work with primary care providers to develop comprehensive integrated care models for patients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Patient Care

  • Consults with primary care patients about behavioral aspects of their medical treatment, with particular attention to maternal mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
  • Evaluates patients to identify social, emotional, and economic factors that may interfere with obtaining maximum benefits from medical care, including issues specific to the perinatal period, such as anxiety, depression, and postpartum stress.
  • Develops and implements a social work treatment plan to offer to patients, incorporating perinatal mental health considerations and strategies for supporting maternal well-being.
  • Provides brief psychotherapy to patients and families, with a particular focus on those experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, grief, or challenges adjusting to new motherhood.
  • Responds promptly and with caring actions to patients and employees, including ensuring mental health support for perinatal patients and families.
  • Acknowledges and honors patients' psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural beliefs, with sensitivity to the diverse needs of pregnant and postpartum individuals.


Provider & Team Support

  • Consults with primary care providers about behavioral aspects of their patients' medical treatment, offering expertise on the integration of mental health care into perinatal care plans.
  • Contributes to the success of the organization by participating in quality improvement projects related to maternal mental health and the perinatal care program.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients, and the public, with a focus on fostering collaboration across disciplines to ensure holistic care for perinatal patients.


Clinical Administration

  • Designs, markets, conducts, and evaluates health promotion programs for perinatal health, including but not limited to mental health support for pregnant and postpartum patients, smoking cessation, weight management, stress management, and support for chronically medically ill patients.
  • Participates in case conferences, departmental, or agency meetings as required by supervisor, providing input on maternal mental health initiatives and the integration of perinatal care services.
  • Attends special training programs involving travel to other sites or through the internet, with a focus on continuing education in perinatal mental health and comprehensive perinatal programs.
  • Participates in care coordination and collaboration with Interfaith Community Services shared patients, including those in the perinatal period, to ensure continuity of care.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree in social work required.
  • Two years' psychotherapy experience (pre or post doc/licensure) working directly with children, adults, or adolescents required, with preference given to those with experience working with perinatal populations.
  • Valid CA Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW) required.
  • Experience providing health psychology services with smoking cessation, weight management, stress management, or chronically medically ill patients preferred.
  • Comprehensive Perinatal Programs Certification or equivalent experience with perinatal mental health preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) or (Arabic/English) required.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledgeable about and experience with providing psychotherapy and familiarity with medical service environments or provision of health psychology services, with a focus on perinatal mental health.
  • Knowledge with one or more word-processing, spreadsheet, or electronic medical records systems and ability to do some charting simultaneously while in session.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent planning and organizational ability.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner.


Pay range: $95,500-141,300 per year, depending on experience.

While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate's overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, budgetary considerations, and organizational needs. As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
