Job Description

Purpose of Position:

Coordinates and leads activities within Psychiatric Quality and as part of the department of Quality Management. This includes oversight and leadership in the Risk Management, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Policy Management, and Performance Improvement aspects of Psychiatry. Each of these roles would include collaboration with the clinical and administrative leadership of both adult and child psychiatry.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversight of incident management, including VOICE entries, patient/surrogate reports, staff reports, Justice Center incident, or incident identified by other means. Incident will be screened and routed appropriately to other departments or reviewed in more detail with the incident has to do with a patient care or clinical quality issues.
  • Responsibility and oversight for maintaining regulatory standards in collaboration with clinical leadership and the Director of Regulatory Affairs.
  • Maintain a state of readiness for announced and unannounced regulatory visits for programs within Psychiatry
  • Identification of key metrics that align with the H+H strategic pillars within psychiatry
  • Ensure that this data is tracked, trended, and analyzed longitudinally
  • Oversee the performance improvement program within psychiatry by ensuring that projects are being done, but they are based in data trends whenever possible, and that they follow our hospital wide performance improvement methodology.
  • In collaboration with the psychiatric policy committee, responsible for managing all departmental policies. This includes tracking of relevant policy reviews, the creation and deletion process, and managing standard work for policy by all disciplines.
  • Oversee the revision of existing policies and the development of new policies as needed and/or in response to incidents, events, or citations.
  • Coordinate with clinical and administrative leadership to set and pursue longitudinal to goals for the department.
  • Act as a Bellevue representative on system wide behavioral health workgroups and committees when needed or upon request.


Minimum Qualifications
1. Graduation from an approved School of Medicine and completion of an approved residency and Board eligible; and,
2. N.Y. State license; and,
3. Five years of full-time paid experience in a responsible medical and clinical administrative and/or managerial capacity; or,
4. A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital Administration, Health Care Planning, Public Health, Administrative Medicine, Business Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,
5. Eight years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical services administration, of which at least four years must have been in a managerial or administrative capacity.
