We're currently growing our team of Artisans with a) Tax Manager. This role will be located at our Support Center in Spring, TX. The successful candidate will oversee and directly execute all tax-related activities within the company, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This includes coordinating with third-party tax professionals and self-performing all necessary tasks. The role requires a deep understanding of tax laws, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments. The role is crucial for ensuring the company's compliance with tax laws and regulations while optimizing its financial performance. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and improvement in the field of taxation.

Requirements

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic tax plans to optimize the company's tax position.
  • Manage the preparation and review of all federal, state, and local tax returns whether in house or in partnership with our 3rd party tax advisors/preparers.
  • Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and consultants on tax-related matters.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management, and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and adherence to tax reporting requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate tax audits.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and proper tax accounting treatment.
  • Maintain tax balances on general ledger.
  • Provide guidance and support on the tax implications of business decisions and transactions. This includes guidance in new jurisdictions and/or services.
  • Manage and support all aspects of tax compliance for mergers, acquisitions, and other business initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Accounting Team with general support and other projects as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (or related field) is required.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a tax manager or public accountant role.
  • Familiarity with U.S. federal, state and local reporting requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance and procedures for corporations.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • High proficiency in MS Excel is required.
  • Proactive and driven team player required.
  • Excellent understanding of basic accounting principles.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Access, and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Passionate about serving internal and external customers.
  • Enjoys working in a challenging, fast-paced, and high-growth environment.
  • Must have strong work ethic and is a self-starter.
  • Strong organizational skills & attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in performing all essential duties.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands
  • Will be expected to work in Spring office three days a week.
  • Work will typically be performed in an office environment using routine office equipment.
  • Ability to lift 5 - 15 pounds as needed when moving business files and/or papers.

Travel Requirements
  • Limited travel may be required to support business needs including training and off-site meetings.
