Description

The Hinckley Company is a world-renowned builder of premium jetboats and sailing craft from 29 to 70 feet in length Maine and Rhode Island, and operates service yards along the U.S. East Coast.

We are seeking an Experienced Purchasing Manager for our Stuart, FL location.

Purchasing Manager Essential Duties:
Negotiates with vendors for good and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee
Establishes Purchasing Policies and ensures compliance
Develops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate
Examines bids and makes awards
Establishes account/credit and terms
Negotiates blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitors cost during the time period
Checks requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers
Needs to manage inventory stock of the company, ensuring that all the products are available and ready in a timely manner
Traces delinquent arrivals from Purchase Orders
Ensure purchased materials are correctly charged to boats and raises discrepancies with the management team
Spearhead vendor quality issues
Assist Stockroom Manager with annual physical inventory process.
Purchasing managers not only place orders with suppliers and vendors but they also make efforts to build a strong relationship with the people behind the companies they deal with
Coverage of the stockroom duties
Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with US laws and corporate guidelines on business ethics

Management duties

The purchasing manager needs to handle the management of the various resources and coordinate them properly. In the field of management, they oversee the decisions related to scheduling the meetings of the suppliers and the vendors. It is their duty to ensure that the stock is always in surplus and the keep a check on the market trends as well. The management duties are not just restricted to coordination but evaluation and monitoring the different departments so that they can run efficiently. It may also involve managing other people within the purchasing department and stockroom departments

Requirements
Eight to 10 years of purchasing experience with focus in the marine industry
Negotiating skills
Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Organizational skills for efficient office control are mandatory
Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts
