The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the transportation operations of a regional energy division, including the management of a Bulk Fuel Plant and a fleet of CDL Hazmat trucks. This role ensures safe and efficient fuel deliveries to a network of convenience stores and wholesale fuel customers. The position involves developing logistics strategies and tactics to optimize routes, fuel loads, costs, and safety. The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert in fuel transportation, managing regular deliveries for over 174 convenience store locations. By analyzing sales trends, monitoring competitor activity, and evaluating impacts on the company's network, the incumbent identifies opportunities to enhance fuel logistics and delivery processes.
This role supervises a team of approximately 37 associates, including 33 CDL Hazmat-certified drivers and a support staff of 4.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts daily and monthly analyses of driver loads, sales trends, store pricing, and delivery routes to optimize fuel distribution.
- Ensures regular repair, maintenance, and reporting for trucks, tankers, bulk plant, and related equipment, including reviewing Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR).
- Collaborates with store and gas maintenance technicians to address fuel-related maintenance issues (e.g., probe or gas system problems).
- Develops, refines, and adjusts dispatch schedules to balance loads, safety, fuel sales, route efficiency, and staffing needs.
- Oversees compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) tracking, random drug testing, MCS-150 reporting, and other federal, state, and local requirements, such as licensing.
- Develops and maintains a driver safety program, providing proactive training and conducting internal investigations into safety or accident-related incidents.
- Negotiates with vendors and partners for contracted services, equipment purchases, and third-party logistics (3PL) carrier agreements.
- Works with Accounting to propose the annual budget for the regional energy division, including internal freight rates for company locations and rates for wholesale customers, while actively monitoring profit and loss (P&L) statements.
- Collaborates with IT to address technology needs, including the use of transit management systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred but not mandatory.
- Four to six years of experience managing petroleum or hazardous materials logistics operations, ideally in convenience retail at a manager level or above.

Computer/Technical:
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Power BI, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
