The Maintenance / Asset Reliability Manager will develop, manage and maintain an industry leading Asset Care and Reliability Program, and provide leadership to the Maintenance Group. This key Site Leadership position will improve equipment, controls and instrumentation to reduce manufacturing variability and cost, identify and manage a critical spares list, optimize screw designs, support NBO trial planning and documentation and partner with other plants to troubleshoot problems and best practices. The position will also drive EHS and change management cultures/philosophies and assist in the expansion of standard work practices throughout the organization. This is a working manager position.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

Education:
  • BS, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant, Americhem-specific experience, required
  • PMP certification, preferred
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification, preferred
  • Working proficiency of control systems and CAD, preferred

Experience:
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • 5+ years leading a team, in addition to working with a collaborative organizational leadership team
  • 5+ years leading projects and process engineering, required
  • 2+ years extrusion knowledge, required (experience with twin screw machines, preferred)
  • PLC systems (AB, Siemens, GE, Automation Direct, etc.), preferred
  • eMaintenance PM system experience, preferred

  • Provides Departmental Leadership by planning and organizing the duties of the Maintenance and Asset Reliability functions; Prioritizing and overseeing multiple activities of assigned staff to maximize productivity; Communicating company policies and procedures; Delegating workload and responsibilities; Ensuring adequate safeguards, maintenance and economical use of materials and equipment; Leading, prioritizing and overseeing team to maximize productivity and effectiveness; Proposing wage increases and succession plans for subordinates; Coaching and developing subordinates through effective performance management; Managing projects to ensure completeness through time constraints; Ensuring consistent delivery of in specification products to customers
  • Manages Maintenance Function by assuring the accurate completion of projects; assuring the safe and proper operability of all equipment; Training team members by sharing knowledge of PLC, CAD/CAM, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic applications and processes; Overseeing team's completion of projects to ensure completeness through time constraints
  • Asset Cost of Ownership by driving continuous improvement projects to identify and execute cost outs; Refining PM's based on both mfg. recommendations, and historical data such as service life; recommending improvements that would result in improved service life; Identifying, developing, and implementing innovative, cost-reducing improvements to manufacturing processes
  • NBO Cost Analysis by supporting team in determining true cost impact by tracking wear over pounds produced or time depending on component (e.g. dies, cutting rotors, etc.)
  • CAPEX Project Management by managing and implements CAPEX projects ensuring safety, quality, timeliness, and achievement of cost targets; Acquiring the necessary equipment to ensure an effective department and monitor/improve overall equipment effectiveness of all plant processes
  • Capital Planning by assuring best practices across the Americhem global organization are used, maintain document control throughout financial planning process including quarterly executive updates, and detailed white papers developed in advance complete with justification for all projects over $100K
  • Continuous Improvement by executing continuous improvement initiatives ensuring operational excellence utilizing lean techniques; identifying and implementing process and quality improvements
  • Develop and Manage a Predictive and Preventative Maintenance Program by implementing an Asset Care & Reliability Program through MainSaver to adequately gauge and schedule repairs, on hand parts inventories, and critical spares including motors, drives, pumps, gearboxes, screws, elements, barrels, shafts, dies, etc.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis by troubleshooting component and system failures using engineering tools; Providing technical support and troubleshoots problems in the operations processes
  • Total Asset and Facilities Care by including asset identification, development of comprehensive preventive care systems, identification and upkeep of critical spare parts inventory, and total vendor selection and qualification over two sites (manufacturing and warehouse facilities)
    • Monitoring and measuring of all critical site process equipment vital and critical measurements. System capacity and health critical tolerances tracked with appropriate frequency (Ex: Electrical capacity, vapor collection effectiveness and flow, dust collection effectiveness, process cooling effectiveness, environmental compliance, water treatment and disposal
    • Maintaining or add effectiveness to the following systems: Sprinkler, fire suppression, alarm, and electronic access systems; Assuring all systems are fully permitted, inspected, and functioning properly
  • Collaborates with Production, Quality, & Inventory/Warehouse/Scheduling Teams by ensuring systematic improvements in capacity utilization; Participating in product and process development projects and programs; Supporting new business opportunity trial planning and execution
  • Overseeing External Contractors by assuring all safety policies and best practices are followed by contractors/vendors; handling job hazards, safe work permits, safety meetings, and site coordination and communication
  • Perform Process Optimization through the research/improvement/acquisition of existing and new equipment/instrumentation to reduce product variability and improve overall manufacturing efficiency; Determine and optimize screw designs across the plant; Partnering with supporting team members to effectively improve and standardize processes
  • Support and Jointly Partner with other plants and Tier II Manufacturing to troubleshoot and translate best practices across the organization
  • Ensures Data Driven Decisions by developing, managing, and evaluating budgets, standards, processes, policies and initiatives; Providing and analyzing data via reports and presentations to management; Playing an active role in determining budgets and strategy
  • Drive EHS Culture by setting and maintaining high safety standards throughout the organization; supporting change management and expansion of standard work
  • Maintain Documentation of plant systems, structural layout, and components including dates of installation and changes, Establishing, monitoring and reporting measures and criteria for department performance
