Rubb Building Systems, a global leader in the design and manufacture of custom-engineered fabric structures, is seeking a Sales Engineer to join our growing team. This position blends technical acumen with customer-facing sales responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a background in mechanical or civil/structural engineering and a strong interest in developing a career in technical sales. The Sales Engineer will play a key role in producing estimates, engineering packages, and procurement documents to drive the efficiency and effectiveness of our projects. This position involves working closely with both internal and external teams, maintaining rigorous standards for design accuracy, project timelines, and customer satisfaction. As part of our close-knit sales and engineering team, the selected candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of industries including aviation, military, ports, and industrial applications-all while contributing to meaningful projects across the U.S. This is a unique opportunity for an engineer looking to step into a customer-facing role with high visibility and uncapped earnings potential.

Salary Description
$85,000-$95,000 per year

Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical point of contact for prospective clients, guiding them through Rubb's product offerings and engineering capabilities
- Manage assigned leads and project opportunities from initial inquiry through to proposal and closing
- Provide accurate and timely quotations using internal pricing systems and tools
- Coordinate with internal engineering and operations teams to ensure alignment on project scope and feasibility
- Attend tradeshows, client meetings, and occasional site visits as needed
- Maintain detailed notes, tasks, and follow-ups within our CRM (HubSpot)
Requirements
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, or structural engineering (required)
- Strong interest in sales and client engagement
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- CAD experience (AutoCAD, SketchUp) is a plus
- Familiarity with structural modeling tools (e.g., RISA) is a plus
- Experience with CRM systems such as HubSpot is a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time (e.g., 6-8 hours per day).
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, or move around the office or work areas.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry objects of moderate weight (e.g., up to 10-20 pounds) with occasional lifting heavier items.
- Ability to facilitate basic computer functions such as typing, using a mouse, operating office equipment (e.g., phones, printers, fax machines), or handling documents whether using standard office tools or adaptive equipment.
- Ability to focus on detailed tasks, whether reading, writing, or reviewing data on screen or on paper
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, or through virtual platforms.
- Ability to work in a typical office environment, which may include air conditioning, artificial lighting, and background noise from phones, conversations, or equipment.
- Comfortable working in shared spaces with colleagues, in open-plan offices or cubicles, or at a personal desk.
- Ability to occasionally travel for work-related events or meetings, whether locally or for short trips.
Schedule:
- Our general operating hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
- This position is hybrid, based out of our Sanford, Maine, office. A reasonable balance of work-from-home and an in office presence will be established upon hire.
