Headquartered in both Kansas City and Topeka, Evergy employs about 4,900 people who are dedicated to empowering a better future. We are currently seeking candidates in Kansas City for a Dispatcher Distribution. Please find below a list of the minimum requirements for the position. It is important the candidates address their qualifications in the documentation submitted for consideration.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Distribution System Operators shall have control jurisdiction and authority over all substation distribution power transformers (below 69kV on the low side) and associated isolating device(s) energized up to 230kV or less that are not part of the transmission bus and/or path. Operators will organize and analyze reported distribution system problems and dispatch field personnel accordingly. Acts as control authority for the entire distribution system (34kV and below). Must be able to monitor multiple systems and respond appropriately and timey to alerts and alarms. Must maintain exceptional communication and customer service by interacting daily with operations and construction, substation, and relay field personnel and other departments. Must be able to manage daily communication by radio, phone, Outlook, and Teams. Must excel in computer skills and programs including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint sites along with a willingness to learn proprietary software used in the Distribution Operations Center (Oracle ADMS, Monarch OSI). Must be able to handle high stress situations, long working hours, and have a positive, team oriented, adaptable, and attentive attitude.

General: Qualifying ratings from an evaluation process that measures verbal and mathematical skills, and logical and analytical reasoning.
Testing: System Operator/Power Dispatching Selection System (SO/PD II)
Education: High School or equivalent. Completion of Distribution System Fundamentals course or two years' experience in distribution fundamentals strongly preferred. Completion of AC/DC Course or two years' experience in AC/DC principals strongly preferred. One-year utility distribution experience strongly preferred.
