Position Summary:

The Training Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance of training programs within the facility. This position focuses on developing, implementing, and optimizing training initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. The Training Specialist collaborates closely with departmental leaders and subject matter experts. This role includes coaching trainers in delivering training and overseeing all aspects of New Hire Orientation, including facilitation.

Responsibilities:

Develop and Enhance Training Materials:

  • Collaborate with departmental stakeholders and the Training Department Leader to develop, validate, and enhance training materials, including OJTs, presentations, videos, and other resources.


  • Conduct regular audits of existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), job instructions, and miscellaneous controlled documents, leading efforts to update them to reflect current practices and regulatory standards.


  • Write and validate On-the-Job Training (OJT) materials, ensuring they are comprehensive, accurate, and aligned with operational requirements.


  • Evaluate and make recommendations on training material and methodology.


Training Administration:

  • Maintain and update the training database to accurately record and track training activities, certifications, and competencies for all employees at both facilities.


  • Organize and manage departmental training records for audits, compliance checks, and other departmental needs.


  • Ensure the standardization of training content across all shifts and departments to promote consistency and effectiveness in training delivery.


  • Provide support and guidance to operations employees to ensure proficiency in documentation practices and adherence to SOPs and regulatory requirements (e.g., cGMP).


Process Improvement and Lean Initiatives:

  • Participate in Lean Initiatives, including basic rapid problem solving (BRPS) and kaizen.


  • Facilitate Training Within Industry (TWI) initiatives, applying adult learning theory principles to develop effective training programs and material.


Training Implementation and Facilitation:

  • Coordinate and lead meetings across shifts to ensure effective communication and collaboration on training initiatives and projects.


  • Facilitate learning through various delivery methods, including classroom instruction, virtual training, and on-the-job coaching.


  • Collaborate with operations leaders to roll out training initiatives and ensure departmental goals and objectives are aligned.


  • Act as a second coach to trainers on the shop floor by providing feedback and assessing training effectiveness while utilizing the TWI methodology.


  • Develop and administer assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and identify areas for improvement


Other Duties:

  • Undertake additional assignments and responsibilities delegated by the Training Department Leader to support departmental objectives and organizational needs.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of demonstrated experience in training and development, manufacturing training, or a related field are required.


  • A bachelor's degree is preferred, or seven to nine years of relevant experience


  • Proficiency in software applications and data entry.


  • Knowledge of adult instructional and learning theory and principles


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).


Experience:

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.


  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.


  • Knowledge of training methodologies (familiarity with TWI is a plus).


  • Familiarity with instructional design.


  • Possess project management skills.

The salary range for this position is $62,000.00 - $102,000.00
Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications, and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with state and local laws.
Base pay is only one component of our total rewards offerings, and we will take the full offering into consideration when presenting an offer of employment. Our total rewards package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, Medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401K match, and other wellness benefits.
