This SBI Special Agent in Charge (SAC) position is located in Fayetteville, NC (Cumberland County) in the Southeastern District Field Office of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). This SBI Special Agent in Charge will directly supervise and coordinate complex, intensive, and sensitive investigations in the Southeastern District Field Office. The SAC will be required to live within 60 miles of the Southeastern District boundaries.
The position uses the authority, jurisdiction and resources of the SBI to assist local, state, federal law enforcement agencies, and judicial officials exercise the statutory original jurisdiction of the SBI. Job responsibilities include the following:

Necessary Special Qualifications: Applicant must have graduated from the SBI Academy or the next available SBI Academy after hiring and meet any other applicable North Carolina state statutory standards for law enforcement officers.
Selective Criteria: Applicants must have current North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Certification.

- Supervise personnel assigned to the District and function as a member of the SBI's management team.
- Manage District caseloads, evaluate new personnel and make assignments which constitute the agent's primary job responsibility.
- Ensure that agents are properly equipped with SBI vehicles, firearms, credentials, evidence collections equipment, and SBI issued supplies and conduct periodic inspections to determine this equipment is properly maintained by the employee.
- Ensure investigative documentation is timely, complete, and appropriately maintained.
- Establish and maintain close liaison with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, providing both technical and investigative assistance to law enforcement agencies upon requests.
- Respond to numerous inquires concerning the SBI's role in law enforcement and investigative work.
