Job Title: Senior Accountant

Job Specialty: Senior Accountant

Shift: 8-hour shift

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience is required. A Master's degree plus two years of directly related experience may be considered. Supervisory experience is preferred.

License: CPA certification is required.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with a variety of staff and external contacts
- Advanced computer skills with experience in General Ledger Systems (preferably G/L Lawson) as well as Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply GAAP in a non-profit acute care setting
- Leadership ability to guide, direct, and mentor staff
- Dedicated team player with a willingness to learn and grow within the organization
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally

Job Description:

- Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, financial analyses, system controls, and management reports.
- Assist with tax filings, annual budget, and audit processes.
- Supervise and provide oversight to an entry-level accountant, if applicable.
- Provide training for staff accountants on general ledger responsibilities and month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare various month-end journal entries and reconciliations, and review journal entries prepared by other departments.
- Conduct high-level monthly general ledger account analysis and reconciliation for assigned accounts.
- Compile variance analysis on assigned accounts.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls under the guidance of the Accounting Manager and Controller.
- Collaborate with different departments to implement consistent policies and ensure adherence to accounting controls.
- Work closely with Financial Information Systems on system changes, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Assist in training new employees on accounting policies and procedures and provide ongoing education and cross-training.
- Promote open communication and collaboration among team members and departments.
- Inform the Accounting Manager of any areas of concern within the accounting office.
- Handle general routine and ad-hoc projects as assigned.
- Create and support a productive and professional work environment.
- Use the organization's values as a basis for decision-making and facilitating the mission.
- Adhere to all behavioral standards set by the organization.
