Job Title: Engineering Department Manager
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Director of Rooms (with a dotted line to General Manager)

Position Overview:
A luxury hotel is seeking a hands-on and experienced Engineering Department Manager to lead its Engineering team and ensure the highest standard of property maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day engineering operations, manage maintenance programs, and uphold brand and regulatory standards across all building systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, and direction to the Engineering team.
  • Supervise all aspects of property maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, laundry and kitchen equipment, and life safety systems.
  • Manage preventive maintenance schedules and respond promptly to guest and operational service requests.
  • Assist in the preparation and control of department budgets, monitor inventory, and track expenses to ensure efficient cost management.
  • Oversee work orders, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Work closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure high-quality service and compliance with service agreements.
  • Ensure department coverage, including participation in the on-call rotation and occasional Manager on Duty shifts.
  • Obtain quotes and coordinate small-scale capital projects or repair work as directed by leadership.
  • Promote a culture of safety and enforce adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation protocols.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of hotel or commercial property engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Proven success in roles such as Engineering Supervisor, Assistant Chief Engineer, or similar.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, cost control, and vendor negotiations.
  • Solid technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and building systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and regulatory documents.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and conduct in alignment with luxury hospitality standards.
