Work Location and Structure: Otis Orchards office; Cottage Grove Office; hybrid remote and in office; or fully remote. May require additional in office time depending upon tasks, meetings, or other requirements.

Travel: Not expected but could require travel to clients' offices depending on work assignments.

Position Overview:

We are actively seeking a highly experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with a proven track record to work in a Fractional CFO capacity with our clients, primarily Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), Primary Care Associations (PCAs) and Tribal Health Organizations. Our clients have diverse financial, healthcare program, and business-related project needs that require expert consulting services. The Chief Financial Officer(CFO)/Lead Consultant role is pivotal in providing expert guidance and strategic direction to both internal teams and clients. While not directly supervising internal staff, the CFO/Lead Consultant is instrumental in coaching, mentoring, and offering constructive feedback to teammates. A CFO/Lead Consultant is ultimately responsible for the quality of deliverables reaching the client. Managing multiple clients and projects concurrently is central to this role, ensuring they stay within budget while consistently delivering high-quality work on time. Effective communication with both teammates and clients remains paramount for success in this multifaceted position.

Essential Functions:
  • Use critical thinking skills to synthesize client input, interpret complex data, and translate that into actionable recommendations.
  • Drive the clients' financial planning.
  • Perform risk management by analyzing the clients' liabilities and investments.
  • Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the clients' operations.
  • Participate in multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Coordination of work across team members.
  • Track progress and keep engagements in alignment with budget expectations.
  • Hold the team accountable for quality, clarity, professionalism, and consistency.
  • Define and manage project scope.
  • Manage projects to be on time, on budget, and with positive outcomes.
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships.
  • Develop a working understanding of CLC's consulting service areas and actively support cross-selling these services to existing clients.
  • Perform work on multiple client engagements, including both consulting directly with clients as well as managing the work of the other consulting staff.
  • Provide mentoring and training to consulting staff by sharing expertise related to project deliverables, client communication, project methodologies, analysis of data and trends, etc. all within a collaborative and supportive structure.
  • Collaborate across service lines to identify and deliver innovative solutions that create client value through the sharing of resources, knowledge and best practices.
  • Contribute to thought leadership strategy through a variety of methods including webinars, marketing campaigns, and speaking engagements.

Required Competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities):
  • Proven experience as CFO, finance officer, or relevant role.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups, Xlookups, and Pivot Tables
  • Ability to strategize and solve problems.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers.


Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience.
  • Experience delegating, reviewing and finalizing projects.
  • Prior supervisory or project management experience.


Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Primary Care Association (PCA) or Tribal Health Organization experience strongly preferred.
  • Public Accounting Experience a plus.
  • MSc/MBA is a plus.
  • Health care experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Able to travel as needed.
