Overview
Kimley-Horn's Virginia Beach, Virginia (VA) office is seeking a Construction Manager with 10+ years of experience to join their Aviation team! This is not a remote position.
Role consists of managing multi-disciplinary construction projects at airport. Construction management consists of on-site representation on behalf of the owner, working directly as an open line of communication between the engineering and architecture design teams and contractor, proactive communication with contractor, owner, and engineer, confirming construction is in accordance with design plans and specifications, maintaining daily site awareness for construction activities and any impacts on routine airport operations, and having familiarity with construction scheduling. The role will be responsible for leading weekly progress calls, reviewing and approval pay applications from the contractor, and for keeping daily logs of construction activities.

Responsibilities
- Design and construction administration of civil infrastructure, including grading, drainage, pavement, maintenance of traffic and operations, specifications, and construction safety plans
- Collaborating and/or coordinating design teams consisting of multi-discipline design engineers and technicians
- Lead and support construction projects as the project representative for the owner
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management and other staff, contractors, and others encountered in the course of work
- Manage and deliver tasks under limited supervision and guidance.
Qualifications
- Candidate must have 10+ years of experience within civil construction.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines.
- Ability and desire to manage projects and work with clients
- Entrepreneurial spirit and growth oriented
- Ability to train and develop more junior staff
- Not required to be a licensed inspector
- Ability to obtain SIDA clearance
