Senior Systems & Network Engineer - 1601

A leading managed services provider (MSP) is seeking a Senior Systems & Network Engineer with deep IT infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity expertise. This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing complex IT environments while mentoring junior staff and ensuring seamless service delivery.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Network & Systems Management:
  
  • Resolve advanced infrastructure and network issues as the top-tier escalation point.
  • Design, implement, secure, and support enterprise-level networks using Fortinet, Meraki, SonicWALL, and Ubiquiti.
  • Architect and deploy Microsoft 365/Azure Hybrid environments with advanced security controls.
  • Manage, implement, and support virtualized infrastructures using VMware and Hyper-V.
• Cybersecurity:
  
  • Secure environments using cutting-edge cybersecurity tools, including ThreatLocker.
  • Implement security best practices to ensure the integrity of client systems.
• IT Automation & Development:
  
  • Develop IT automation workflows using RMM tools, including leveraging PowerShell and Rewst.
• Leadership & Project Management:
  
  • Lead infrastructure projects, including data center migrations and network overhauls.
  • Mentor Level 1 and Level 2 technicians and enhance documentation standards.
• Client Support:
  
  • Provide high-level technical expertise for client network and system needs.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients to ensure service excellence.

Ideal Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in IT support, systems engineering, and network administration (MSP experience preferred).
• Expert knowledge of firewall configurations, VPNs, SD-WAN, VLAN segmentation, and advanced NAT policies.
• Advanced Active Directory administration and security experience.
• Strong experience with SIEM solutions, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation.
• Strong understanding of compliance frameworks and cybersecurity best practices.
• Ability to multitask and stay calm in high-pressure situations.

Additional Requirements:

• Must have a car for travel to client sites (travel reimbursement provided).
• Must live in or near the NYC Metro Area.
• Ability to work independently and handle complex projects efficiently.
• Industry certifications are preferred.
