Job Description
Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Profession: Allied Health Professional

Specialty: Nuclear Medicine

Shift: Monday to Friday

Hours per Shift: 8 hours (can vary between 7am and 6pm)

Experience: 2 years

License: State License required

Certifications: Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or registered as a Radiologic Technologist with certification in Nuclear Medicine by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Basic Life Support Certification (American Heart Association)

Must-Have: CT certification and experience in PET/CT preferred

Description:
Review patient history and physician's orders.
Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
Position patients and perform imaging procedures.
Ensure proper imaging techniques related to the patient's age and ability to understand the procedure to ensure image quality is successfully obtained.
Review patient information and interpret data to confirm an appropriate plan and intervention specific for age-related needs and provision of care.
Perform nuclear medicine imaging and therapy in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies and mission of the organization.
Analyze results and identify issues with the quality of imaging results.
Take appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures.
Enter, transmit, and report scan results.
Order, prepare, administer, store, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols and applicable regulations and standards.
Monitor patient condition continually and report or respond to changes in status as appropriate.
Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies in the Clinical Nuclear Medicine rooms.
