What is the opportunity?
We are looking for an experienced high-risk role and controls Director within the greater Toronto area. The role focusses on enhanced monitoring, oversight, and security of high-risk roles within RBC and subsidiaries. The incumbent will be responsible work closely with global security, IT, IAM teams to enforce risk management practices which safeguard critical assets and ensure compliance to Policies and Standards. The role will focus risk management practices against individuals with elevated privileges or with access to classified information or systems.

Job Description
What is the opportunity?
We are looking for an experienced high-risk role and controls Director within the greater Toronto area. The role focusses on enhanced monitoring, oversight, and security of high-risk roles within RBC and subsidiaries. The incumbent will be responsible work closely with global security, IT, IAM teams to enforce risk management practices which safeguard critical assets and ensure compliance to Policies and Standards. The role will focus risk management practices against individuals with elevated privileges or with access to classified information or systems.
What will you do?
- Enhance/ expand risk-based oversight over high-risk roles (e.g. privileged users, front-line staff, HR, procurement, critical business functions, technology, development).
- Conduct access reviews and assessments to ensure appropriate privilege management practices are being followed while addressing and gaps using IT Risk management practices.
- Collaborate with HR and hiring managers to assess insider risk factors during on/offboarding, promotions, and role transitions.
- Develop detailed investigation reports and recommend corrective actions to help strengthen risk management practices.
- Create and maintain sustainable procedures and process documentation.
- Create and lead a team while collaborating across RBC.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- A practical understanding of data protection risk, exposures, and effective controls.
- Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Technical experience with effective access management and risk management focusing on higher risk roles and ongoing risk reviews
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Collaborative mindset with experience working cross-functionally with IT support, Identity and Access Management, IT, and security/compliance teams.
- A willingness to make a difference and help protect business areas and data.
- Audit, operational support, data protection or governance/risk management experience.
Nice to have:
- Industry related certification - e.g. CITPM, CFE, CISSP
- Background in digital forensics, behavioral psychology, or advanced analytics
- Experience in law enforcement, intelligence, or corporate investigations.
- Knowledge of financial services business line(s) and associated applications and processes
- Information Technology standards, methodologies, and audit requirements
