Job Description

As the Architectural Planning Manager, you'll lead a team communicating project-specific scope by using Best Buy's floor plan standards and prototype design building criteria. Your team will develop merchandise and fixture layouts, construction and contract documents, and building specifications. You'll also support major facility maintenance projects and any other store-related projects with physical construction needs. Your team will maintain and update Best Buy's store prototype layouts, related support documentation and specifications. You'll maintain as-built documents and asset tracking for Best Buy's portfolio of locations.

This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work some days on-site at the Best Buy Corporate Richfield, MN location listed on this posting and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

What you'll do
  • Use Best Buy's standards, prototypical layouts and site-specific documents to translate the business and merchant strategy to the development of project plans, layouts, details and specifications
  • Partner with the construction and deployment teams looking for opportunities to reduce project costs and improve the team's output
  • Partner with the space management team to ensure milestones and targets related to product assortment, adjacencies and plan turnover expectations are delivered site by site
    • Conduct annual score card evaluations for all consultants, trade workers and vendors
    • Help target business and investment plans in collaboration with store experience leadership
    • Work with local stakeholders on advancing quality improvement and priorities that support our collective strategy

Basic qualifications
  • 5 years of design, planning, architectural or engineering leadership
  • 5 years of purchasing experience, including negotiating terms and funding strategies
  • 5 years of retail experience
  • 3 year of experience building and developing functional teams
