Deputy Director, Housing and Residential Programs
Posting Summary
The Deputy Director of Housing and Residential Programs ( HRP ) is a core member of the University Housing & Dining Services ( UHDS ) senior leadership team, shaping departmental strategy, organizational structure, and priorities. Reporting to the Executive Director of Housing & Residential Life, this role provides operational leadership to ensure seamless housing and residential program delivery.
This position oversees housing operations, residential education, strategic initiatives, and academic engagement, managing policies, processes, and systems that support 6,500 student beds across 41 residence halls in 11 complexes. This position fosters a high-performing leadership team, translates strategic goals into actionable outcomes, and collaborates with campus partners to enhance student experiences, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability. This role also represents UHDS on committees and serves as a point of escalation for complex issues.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Knowledge of best practices related to living and learning programs and services designed to promote student success.
Anticipated Pay Range
$120,000-$135,000 annually
Other Information
Extended hours and crisis management-related stress. Required to work evenings and weekends to respond to emergencies and attend University-wide programs as needed to support the residential experience.
Special Conditions
Weekend work required, Non-standard work hours required, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), This position is ineligible for telework due to the essential functions, Background Check required for this position, A probationary period may be required, A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Master's degree in education, student affairs or related field
- Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in university housing, dining, or student affairs.
- Significant experience in campus housing to effectively manage operations within UHDS .
- Demonstrated ability to align operations with institutional goals and drive strategic initiatives.
- Exceptional financial management, leadership, and communication skills.
- Experience with public-private partnerships and managing auxiliary enterprises.
