Position Summary
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in conjunction with Manning Family Children's is seeking a full-time academic Pediatric Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist with advanced training and/or experience in Pediatric Transplant Hepatology to join our faculty group. The Pediatric Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist will provide outpatient and inpatient care, focusing primarily on transplant hepatology and liver disease, in addition to general pediatric gastroenterology and clinical outreach activities at Manning Family Children's and our satellite clinics.
The selected candidate will become actively involved in all aspects of teaching including training medical students and residents. The section boasts the only ACGME accredited fellowship training program in the state. Clinical programs exist in all areas of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition including advanced therapeutic endoscopy and liver transplantation. The Division employs ten Pediatric Gastroenterologists and two Nurse Practitioners. The Department boasts approximately eighty faculty members representing all pediatric sub-specialties.
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of one-year of advanced training in pediatric transplant hepatology, or equivalent experience; and must have successfully completed a Pediatrics Residency and a Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship; be Board Certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology, and Board Eligible / Board Certified in Pediatric Transplant Hepatology. A license to practice medicine in the state of Louisiana and credentialing by all required entities must be obtained before the start date. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor of Clinical Pediatrics (non-tenure, clinical track) depending on prior experience.
