The Health & Safety Lead is responsible for managing day-to-day operational H&S programs across 3 of NorLand's business units. They will work closely with site leaders and employees in the field to drive proactive risk management and support frontline teams in creating a safe and productive work environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily H&S monitoring and field engagement, including organizing and leading H&S meetings, toolbox talks, and employee engagement sessions
  • Work with managers and teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurring issues
  • Perform routine and scheduled H&S reviews ensuring compliance gaps are addressed
  • Investigate workplace incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and preventive actions
  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC, and other regulatory bodies and ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring return-to-work and injury management programs
  • Assist in the development and implementation of H&S procedures, policies, and standards and stay updated on industry regulations and best practices
  • Oversee the selection, onboarding, and due diligence of contractors and conduct periodic contractor H&S reviews to ensure alignment with company policies
  • Develop and maintain a training matrix to track competency and regulatory training requirements
  • Promote H&S awareness campaigns and foster a strong H&S culture
  • Lead active and functional Joint Health & Safety Committees


Qualifications & Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in health & safety, with at least 3+ years in a lead role
  • Strong knowledge of construction, industrial services, and high-risk work environments
  • Experience with WorkSafeBC, and other regulatory compliance
  • Certified Registered H&S Professional (CRSP) preferred
  • Experience in contractor management, risk assessments, and H&S system implementation
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Lean Construction or process improvement experience is an asset


Compensation

The role is a permanent, full-time position with a typical salary range of $85,000 to $105,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's competencies, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and experience. NorLand offers a comprehensive total rewards package that includes a competitive base salary, extended health and dental plans with premiums full paid by the company, as well as paid time off and RRSP matching.
