Job Overview
The Associate Data Engineer will play a key role in building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support our Brand Strategy & Insights team. You will contribute to the ingestion, transformation, and delivery of data that fuels high-impact analytics and strategic decision-making for our marketing and brand teams. This position is ideal for someone with foundational data engineering skills who is passionate about leveraging data to tell brand stories, optimize marketing performance, and improve customer understanding.
Job Responsibilities:
Data Infrastructure Development:
Assist in building and maintaining the infrastructure needed for efficient extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from a variety of structured and unstructured sources using tools such as SQL, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, and other big data technologies.
Pipeline Maintenance & Optimization:
Implement and support scalable data pipelines, ensuring they meet functional and non-functional business requirements such as reliability, latency, and cost-effectiveness.
Analytical Enablement:
Build components that power analytics dashboards and machine learning models used by marketing and strategy teams to uncover insights on customer behavior, brand performance, and market trends.
Cross-Team Collaboration:
Work with data scientists, analysts, and marketers to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions. Support data infrastructure requirements for experimentation, segmentation, and reporting use cases.
Automation & Process Improvement:
Identify and help implement opportunities for automating manual processes, improving data quality, and enhancing pipeline efficiency and scalability.
Tooling & Support:
Create tools and reusable assets that empower analysts and data scientists to perform their work more efficiently. Provide day-to-day support on data engineering-related tasks and troubleshooting.
Ad Hoc Projects:
Participate in other data or insights-related projects and duties as assigned by leadership to support evolving business needs.

Base Pay Range: $64,800 - $116,900
Corporate Bonus Target: 10%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance. Education and Work Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience (Preferred)
- Less than 2 years Data Engineering (Required)
- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement (Preferred)
- Experience in languages such as SQL, DAX, Python, Java, Scala, and/or Go (Preferred)
- Experience in a combination of data manipulation and data processing tools-Alteryx (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases (Required)
- Ability to manage work across multiple projects, good organizational (Preferred)
