Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Director of Sales & Events to join the team at Avalon Palm Springs and Ingleside Estate. As a Director of Sales & Events, you will play a vital role in developing and executing sales strategies to drive revenue, enhance brand recognition, and deliver exceptional guest experience.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve the Hotel's overall revenue targets and maximize profitability; identify new business opportunities and cultivate strong relationships with event planners, corporate clients, travel agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and lead a high-performing sales team; set goals, provide guidance and inspire team members to deliver exceptional results; foster a positive work environment and encourage professional development within the team
  • Proactive Sales: Lead all proactive sales efforts relevant to achieve Sales & Events targets. Ensure individual and Team's weekly and monthly proactive sales goals defined by Area GM/SVP, Sales (prospecting, sales call, site inspections, entertainment)
  • Revenue Management: Collaborate with the Revenue Management team to analyze market trends, competitor activities and pricing strategies; utilize data and insights to optimize room rates, revenue streams and occupancy levels
  • Budgeting and Reporting: Develop and manage the sales budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively; monitor and analyze key performance metrics and prepare regular reports
  • Operations: Oversee success operation of all Events, Groups and other bookings made by Sales clients
  • Guest Experience: Collaborate with Guest Services and Operations teams to ensure a seamless guest experience aligned with the hotel's luxury standards; continuously seek opportunities to enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty through personalized services and tailored experiences
  • Administration and Planning: Develop and execute the Hotel's Sales & Marketing Plan along with managing relative expenses. Create and implement standard operating procedures for the Sales & Events team. Ensure individual and team KPIs as set by Area GM & SVP, Sales are met


Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality or related field; a minimum of 9 years of experience in sales within the luxury hospitality industry, with a proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth; prior experience in a leadership or managerial role is essential
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the luxury lifestyle hotel market, trends and customer preferences; familiarity with revenue management principles and digital marketing strategies; knowledge of local market dynamics and competition
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies; strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess market conditions and identify opportunities; results-oriented mindset with a focus on driving revenue and achieving business objectives
  • Leadership and Communication: Proven leadership abilities with experience in managing and motivating a diverse team; excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients, partners and team members; strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Brand Ambassador: Passionate about luxury hospitality and committed to upholding the hotel's brand image and reputation; ability to embody the hotel's values and always deliver an exceptional guest experience
  • Adaptability and Resilience: Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; able to navigate and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines; resilient in the face of challenges and able to quickly adapt strategies as needed
