Job Purpose

This role is responsible for performing advanced professional and technical tasks with a strong focus on architecture and construction administration. Key responsibilities include conducting site inspections, reviewing architectural plans and specifications, preparing detailed reports, and managing contract administration throughout the construction process. The position plays a critical role in enhancing project delivery by improving internal processes and procedures, while also mentoring junior team members. Additionally, the role supports the project lead in areas such as financial oversight, budgeting, and manpower planning, leveraging deep expertise in architectural design and construction practices.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and review drawings, specifications, cost estimates, project schedules, and other documents to ensure accuracy, code compliance, and readiness for client issuance.
Identify complex problems and provide innovative solutions across disciplines.
Participate in all project phases, including construction contract preparation, pre-construction conferences, schedule reviews, pay request approvals, change order evaluations, construction issue resolution, final inspections, and closeout procedures.
Attend and represent staff at pre-design, pre-bid, and pre-construction meetings.
Conduct site visits to assess progress and flag potential issues; resolve problems through design modifications or coordination.
Communicate conflicts or schedule concerns to the project manager or supervisor in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate time records daily and ensure work stays within project budgets.
Review architectural construction documents for design conflicts, code issues, and constructability.
Ensure plans align with project goals, client expectations, and regulatory standards.
Evaluate drawing coordination between disciplines (e.g., structural, MEP) and highlight omissions or inconsistencies.
Identify and mitigate risks early in the design process to reduce RFIs, change orders, and delays.
Recommend improvements to enhance constructability, compliance, or efficiency.
Ensure integration of building codes, accessibility standards, and zoning regulations.
Provide structured review summaries with professional, constructive feedback.
Stay current on industry best practices, materials, systems, and regulatory changes.
Support quality assurance through milestone reviews (50%, 75%, 100% CDs) and design checklist contributions.
Mentor team members and support internal training efforts to enhance documentation quality.
Assist during construction administration when needed to clarify design intent.

Requirements

Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and 3-6 years of construction, design, inspection, or estimating experience.
  • Structural, architectural, MEP, forensics, restoration, and/or building envelope consulting services experience preferred.
  • Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation required.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience in project management and certification as a CBI (Certified Building Inspector).

Skills and Abilities
English proficiency: Fluent (Speak, read, understand, interpret content and write).
Consistently demonstrates extremely high levels of technical knowledge, ingenuity, and creativity.
Developing and applying advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories, and concepts.
Possess broad knowledge about the design and construction/installation of building systems outside of his/her specialty.
Exercising independent initiative/judgement in setting and implementing goals.

Physical Demands*

Necessary to perform the assigned duties safely and effectively:
Ability to sit with back at a 90-degree angle for up to 8 hours per day.
Ability to look at a computer for up to 8 hours per day.
Ability to stand upright for up to 8 hours per day.
Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas (uneven terrain, exposure to outdoor weather elements)
Bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, laying, crawling, and twisting required up to 30% of the time in this role.
Must be able to ride in a hoist and/or swing stage.
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds at times.
Must be able to use right and left foot for repetitive movements as in operating controls or levers.
Full dexterity of wrists and fingers required with repetitive motions.
Must be able to see near, in the distance, color, depth, and range.

*Safety equipment, including but not limited to hard hat, OSHA approved footwear, safety glasses and safety vests, is always required while performing job functions on active construction sites. Safety gloves, ear plugs, and safety harness will be issued when appropriate.

*Riding in a hoist and/or in a swing stage to be performed under strict adherence to the OSHA standards. Climbing ladders and scaffolds to be performed under strict adherence to the OSHA standards.
