Key Responsibilities
As the Structural Engineering Manager, you will:
- Lead and manage the structural engineering team to ensure project success.
- Oversee the development of structural designs and provide technical guidance to team members.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project coordination with internal teams and external partners, including architects, MEP consultants, and other disciplines.
- Manage projects through all phases, from design to construction administration.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders, ensuring timely resolutions during construction.
- Conduct site visits and participate in OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings as needed.
Your Impact
- Collaborate with clients, owners, and multidisciplinary teams to define project scope and deliverables.
- Ensure designs meet budgetary constraints and adhere to project schedules.
- Author structural specifications, perform calculations, and select materials for optimal performance.
- Provide clear communication through reports, memos, and correspondence to ensure alignment across all stakeholders.
- Conduct site observations during construction phases to maintain quality standards.
Education and Work Experience Requirements
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
- A Structural Engineering license (S.E.) in your state of residence.
- At least 10 years of progressive structural engineering experience; 3+ years leading multidisciplinary project teams is preferred.
- Expertise in state building codes and design standards (e.g., ASCE, AISC, ACI).
- Proficiency in software such as ETABS, RISA, RAM, ENERCALC, Bluebeam, etc.
- Proficiency in design of various structural materials including steel, concrete, masonry, wood etc.
- Strong communication skills and a client-focused mindset.
