The Director of Pupil Services provides district-wide leadership and oversight for special education, psychological and speech services, Section 504 compliance, school counseling (K-6), school nursing, and other support programs that help students thrive. The Director ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and fosters collaborative relationships with staff, families, and community partners to support student success in the least restrictive environment.

About the Role
The Director of Pupil Services provides district-wide leadership and oversight for special education, psychological and speech services, Section 504 compliance, school counseling (K-6), school nursing, and other support programs that help students thrive. The Director ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and fosters collaborative relationships with staff, families, and community partners to support student success in the least restrictive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all special education services in compliance with federal and state laws.
- Coordinate psychological, speech/language, health, and counseling services.
Serve as the district's Section 504 compliance officer and foster student liaison. - Collaborate with building and district administrators to implement effective student support systems.
- Participate in and lead IEP meetings, disciplinary hearings, and intervention support processes.
- Develop and manage program budgets in coordination with the Treasurer.
- Supervise and support assigned staff, including school nurses and K-6 counselors.
- Lead efforts in program evaluation, professional development, and continuous improvement.
- Develop community partnerships and serve as a liaison to outside agencies and service providers.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Ohio administrative license appropriate for the assignment.
- Proven experience in special education leadership and pupil services.
- Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and other federal/state regulations.
- Ability to support inclusive education practices and provide leadership in multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Experience supervising and evaluating certificated and classified staff.
- Demonstrated success in managing budgets, programs, and compliance reporting.
- Knowledge of current best practices in mental health, trauma-informed care, and student wellness.
