JOB GOAL:
The Director of Secondary Education will play a critical role in supporting the Executive Director of Secondary Education in overseeing all aspects of secondary education programs and initiatives. This individual will provide leadership, guidance, and support to secondary school principals and assistant principals to ensure the implementation of district curriculum, policies, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervision and Evaluation: Conduct regular observations and evaluations of assigned school principals to assess their performance in various areas,including instructional leadership, school management, and community engagement.
2. Professional Development: Design and implement professional development programs and training sessions tailored to the needs of individual principals and assistant principals, aimed at enhancing their leadership skills, instructional practices, and decision-making abilities. This position will take the lead role in facilitating monthly elementary assistant principal meetings.
3. Coaching and Mentoring: Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to principals and assistant principals, offering constructive feedback, guidance, and support to help them address challenges, overcome obstacles, and achieve their professional goals.
4. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with district leadership to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives that align with the goals and objectives of the school district, ensuring that principals are equipped to lead effectively in line with these priorities.
5. Policy Implementation: Ensure that principals are knowledgeable about and compliant with district policies, procedures, and regulations, providing guidance and clarification as needed to support their adherence to established standards.
6. Data Analysis: Analyze performance data, academic outcomes, and other relevant metrics to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making processes aimed at enhancing school effectiveness and student achievement.
7. Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships with parents, guardians, community members, and other stakeholders, serving as a liaison between principals and the broader community to promote transparency, collaboration, and mutual understanding.
8. Crisis Management: Provide leadership and support to principals and assistant principals in navigating crisis situations, emergencies, or other challenging circumstances, ensuring that appropriate protocols are followed and effective communication strategies are employed.
9. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with district administrators, school board members, and other stakeholders to promote a cohesive and supportive educational environment, while also maintaining open and transparent communication channels with principals.
10.Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of current trends, best practices, and research in educational leadership and administration, continuously seeking opportunities for professional growth and improvement to enhance the effectiveness of principal supervision and support.
11. Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS): Facilitates and ensures consistent implementation of MTSS practices and procedures in all secondary schools.
12 .Other Duties as Assigned

LENGTH OF CONTRACT:
Two hundred and forty (240) contract days.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Executive Director of Secondary Education in accordance with the provisions of the Edmond School Board's policies and State Law of Oklahoma.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the organization, administration, supervision of assigned secondary principals or programs.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Valid administrative certification/license
Previous experience as a school principal or in a related leadership role Demonstrated success in instructional leadership, school management, and personnel supervision
Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills Ability to analyze data, make data-driven decisions, and implement evidence-based practices
Knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and regulations governing education Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education
Ability to travel between school sites within the district as needed

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field (consideration given for Doctoral Degree or willingness to pursue Doctoral Degree) Minimum of 3-5 years head principal experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required to do so. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of position.

REASONING SKILLS:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and/or concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The ability to lead a large, diverse organization is such a manner as to promote high performance, efficiency and quality throughout the organization, in such a fashion as to foster a work climate in which employees' self-work is recognized.
Ability to use computer and computer related programs and other technologies need to perform essential job functions. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors and contractors, students, facility, administration, staff and the community. Ability to organize and chair or facilitate committees and meetings. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Edmond Board of Education policies.
