CBC/Radio Canada's Finance Team is seeking a Senior Manager to support the News Division, English Services. Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance, this position is integral to the Senior Finance Management team. You will be directly involved with the FP&A, internal and external financial reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis. The role will also be heavily involved in the development and implementation of the annual and multi-year strategic and business plan process. This includes consolidation of both management view of financial results and commentary.
Your role
You will develop relationships with your clients through ongoing service to support their business objectives and management of their budget resources. You will ensure the implementation of management tools enabling management to plan and manage their resource envelope effectively. You will be a valuable member of the News Finance team, providing insight into risk and results to senior management.

Your role

Responsibilities:
- Participate in the annual budget process for CBC News, including coordination with other CBC departments.
- Develop and maintain in year forecast for CBC News.
- Analyze and interpret variances and trends for departmental results.
- Develop and maintain ad-hoc analysis for business cases.
- Identify and present recommendations for continuous process improvement.
- Present results to senior management.
- Develop presentations and reports for presentation to various stakeholders.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Build and focus strategies for English Finance function that compliment and expand broader CBC Finance strategy.
- Lead, mentor and develop high-functioning team (including direct reports and colleagues) including creating a motivating, positive environment.
- Seeks ways to continuously improve performance.
- Receptive to new ideas and change.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with other leaders across the function and organization.
- Requires a highly developed sense of client service, enabling the incumbent to listen to clients and correctly interpret each department's particular needs.
- Negotiates with managers to meet both their needs and management accounting objectives.
Qualifications:
- Professional accounting designation such as CPA.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in large financial management environment with FP&A experience; broadcasting experience is preferred.
- Ability and skills to make recommendations and provide analytical insight and interpretation of complex financial data to senior management in a clear and concise manner.
- Superior Excel skills and experience working with TM1/Cognos and Workday is an asset.
- Previous experience in a leadership position, including overseeing direct staff, setting of objectives, assigning and coordinating the work of direct reports is required. The job requires the ability to guide and direct a team of individuals at various levels.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and interact with employees, business managers and management of several departments in order to coordinate various activities.
- Good leadership qualities and be capable of working with various levels of management and in situations either as a team leader or team member.
- Ability to deal with several, sometimes conflicting priorities under pressure in order to meet deadlines and meet multiple urgent demands within tight timeframes.
- Analytical mind, good judgment and great flexibility for work schedules, to serve diversified clientele and cope with numerous changes.
- Fluency in French is an asset.
