What You Will Do:
We are seeking an experienced Software Motor Control Engineer to design, develop, and implement software algorithms for motor control applications. The ideal candidate will have experience with embedded systems, real-time operating systems, and motor control algorithms.
This role requires a combination of software development, electrical engineering, and system-level design to create high-efficiency, reliable, and scalable motor control solutions.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize software algorithms on microcontrollers for brushed and brushless DC motor applications
- Implement embedded motor control strategies such as PID, Trapezoidal, FOC (field-oriented control) and PWM.
- Develop embedded software for real-time motor control systems, ensuring high efficiency, stability, safety, and performance.
- Tuning motor control algorithms with MATLAB simulations to optimize performance, torque, speed, and thermal behavior.
- Perform system wide software verification and validation testing at the component, subsystem, and system level.
- Collaborate with hardware and mechanical teams to ensure proper integration of motor drivers, sensors, and power electronics within the embedded system.
General Responsibilities:
- Lead and support team members to create or improve procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology requirements with cross functional teams including R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success
- Lead code reviews for projects/systems as independent reviewer applying design principals, coding standards and best practices
What You Will Need:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering/ Computer Science or related discipline
- 6+ years of professional work experience in the embedded motor controller environment
- Experienced with embedded C/C++ applications running on a RTOS
- Experience testing and implementing brushed and brushless motor topologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Collaboratively lead strategies for integrated development environments (IDE) structures for projects
- Collaboratively lead strategies with tools for static/dynamic analysis, memory management, code coverage and techniques for analyzing software
- Lead the adoption of Application Lifecycle Management /Traceability best practices and tools
- Lead teams in creating estimates for code implementation including time/resources for projects
