ROLE SUMMARY

The Director of Payer and Provider Oncology Contract Strategy works directly with the Oncology Business Unit (OBU) and US Market Access (USMA) to lead the assessment and development of payer and provider contracting strategies for Pfizer's medical benefit Oncology portfolio. This individual is responsible for making recommendations on rebating and discounting to optimize gross-to-net for assigned brands. These investment decisions impact millions of dollars in sales annually for a brand's gross-to-net.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This primary responsibility of this role is to develop and maintain contract strategies to support payers and providers in the US for Pfizer's medical benefit Oncology portfolio over the different stages of product life cycle (e.g. launch, post-launch, LOE).
  • Individual will work closely with cross-functional teams across the Oncology Business Unit and US Market Access to develop and implement these contracting strategies. In some cases, this will be leading the contract development work (e.g. payer contracts) and in other cases it will be partnering with the OBU teams to develop contract strategies (e.g. provider contracts).
  • Oversee and shepherd contract approval requests through USMA teams to ensure alignment and operational feasibility with all key stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Operations, Government Pricing, and USMA/Brand leadership).
  • Lead the effort to take payer and provider contract offers through USMA PCGC governance process where approvals are collected from all key Pfizer stakeholders.
  • Produce analytics to support the assessment and development of contracting and pricing strategies to support payers and providers for Pfizer's medical benefit Oncology portfolio.
  • Oversee and maintain membership rosters for provider contracts for assigned brands. Partner with Development Team and OBU to develop ongoing framework for managing this.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner with the OBU related to launch and WAC price change decisions for legacy Seagen brands.
  • Communicate contract strategies and guidelines to numerous cross-functional stakeholders including Brand Teams, Contract Development, Account Management, Access Marketing, and Others.
  • Monitor contract / channel / product trends and identify issues and provide solutions to counter or overcome to Brand Team and Senior Leadership.
  • Support IRA strategic planning for upcoming MFP negotiation for Mx benefit portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Global Access and Value stakeholders to participate in and support pre-launch activities such as market research studies, competitive environment evaluations, and pricing research studies, as well as support for licensing deals and development program assessments.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of external stakeholders to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
  • Bachelor's degree minimum required
  • 8+ years US market access experience required
  • Experience leading both direct and indirect teams in a collaborative team environment. Ability to lead projects that impact PCA and US business overall; should be able to lead through influence within the Global business functions.
  • Understanding of market access dynamics for provider administered products, biosimilars, and drugs covered under the medical benefit
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. markets and the underlying financial dynamics from the perspective of all stakeholder groups (i.e. Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare)
  • Financial modeling expertise, must be expert in MS Excel
  • Strategic thinking: Able to understand the changing dynamics of the US payer environment and have the strategic insights to develop strategies for Pfizer

  • MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $169,700.00 to $282,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
