Job Summary
Supervises staff and company resources to provide land surveying activities associated with Electric Transmission projects. Projects include building of new and expansion of electric transmission lines, substations facilities, encroachments and related legal issues. Lead the survey team to provide the highest quality of surveying support. Provide technical direction, training and guidance to survey technicians in the group. Assign work activities and assure their accuracy and timely completion. Administer quality control procedures to ensure survey data conforms to established standards and specifications. Schedules and assigns survey requests between departments. Provides advice on technical and legal matters related to surveying. Maintains safety procedures related to survey activities. Responsible for quality oversight of external contractors that support surveying activities, reviewing invoicing and cost control measures. Provides survey cost estimates.

Education Requirements
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
Bachelor
Preferred disciplines: Surveying & Mapping, Mathematics.
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred disciplines(s) listed above.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Virginia Professional Land Surveyor license preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
- Minimum 10 years' experience with surveying activities.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of land surveying including state law regarding boundary law
- Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact and develop relationships with project managers, construction department, consultants, and engineers.
- Demonstrated the ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Planning, organizing and project management skills.
- Knowledge of algebra, trigonometry and geometry.
- Knowledge of surveying and CAD.
- Knowledge of aerial mapping techniques.
- Analyze drawings and specifications and make precise decisions.
- Ability to deal with high work volumes.
