Overview:

Responsible for overseeing investment operations, including, but not limited to, implementation and trading, reporting, and related systems and tools. Provides strategic direction and management for projects and initiatives in support of department or division. Manages teams responsible for implementing centralized investment solutions, including model portfolios and separately managed accounts, data reporting, and investment platform support for client accounts.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and lead execution of centralized trading to ensure the Investment Committee's best thinking is implemented in client accounts, where appropriate.
  • Manage the team providing investment platform support to Investment Advisors.
  • Manage the development and production of complex departmental reporting, including, but not limited to, strategy analysis, historical reporting and analysis, and workflow optimization. Analyze the reports and make recommendations needed to drive business decisions.
  • Collaborate with risk, compliance and oversight partners to support efforts to adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Leadership role in setting policy, developing procedures, and implementing controls related to key business processes.
  • Perform highly complex data review, research, and/or reconciliation. Interpret results and present findings to make or influence strategic decisions within the department or division.
  • Take a lead role in supporting departmental audits including user recertifications and compliance testing.
  • Manage and facilitate the planning, testing, and implementation of new projects, systems, products and regulatory changes impacting the department.
  • Demonstrate a thorough and expert understanding of the business and its functions, processes and operations. Keep abreast of business and market trends that may affect the business/department.
  • Define and participate in the achievement of short and long-term business objectives. May oversee budget, P&L and other business reporting. Analyze variances and report to leadership. Make recommendations on variances and methods to increase efficiency, lower costs, etc.
  • Take a lead role in supporting departmental audits including user recerts, compliance testing.
  • Provides coaching, direction and leadership to team members in order to achieve business results.
  • Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
  • Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.


Supervisory/ Managerial Responsibilities:

Will manage a team of 5 or more reports

Experience and Education Required:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years related business line experience,

OR in lieu of a degree,

A combined minimum of 11 years higher education and/or work experience.

A minimum of 2 years of leadership/supervisory experience

Education and Experience Preferred:

Experience implementing and/or working with a UMA platform

Familiarity with Envestnet's investment management platform

Understanding of SEI Trust 3000 platform

Experience working as Investment Advisor and/or supporting investment advisors

Experience working for a trust company

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $110,673.13 - $184,455.22 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
