Join our team on a 15-month contract as an Accounting Manager! In this role you'll be managing the preparation and accuracy of the Company's financial reporting across all subsidiaries, including the month end process and consolidated financial statements. You will ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, coordinate with other departments and communicate financial information to stakeholders. The Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the financial reporting team, ensuring the delivery of accurate financial reports to support decision-making across the business.

We are ideally seeking a candidate located in Calgary AB, where our Home Office is located. This is a 15-month maternity leave contract.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Overseeing the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements under ASPE, including the consolidated statements, quarterly and annual reports and other internal reporting.
  • Managing the month end process for all subsidiaries, ensuring timely, accurate and complete financial information.
  • Establishing, maintaining and improving internal controls, accounting procedures and SOP's as needed, ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards and tax requirements.
  • Leading the audit, acting as a liaison between the auditors and other departments, ensuring a smooth audit process.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the financial reporting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Performing financial data analysis to identify trends, issues, and opportunities and communicate financial information to stakeholders.
  • Managing and reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations with other accounting teams.
  • Managing and optimizing ERP and financial systems where needed to improve reporting and accounting processes, while collaborating with IT and other departments to integrate financial data with production and operational systems.
  • Assisting in the completion of ad hoc or special projects throughout the business as required.


As The Successful Candidate You Have:

  • A CPA designation.
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience with 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, month end processes and audit.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Netsuite preferred) and advanced excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of ASPE or IFRS, financial regulations and internal controls.
  • Experience with Power BI and Power Query considered an asset.
  • Experience in the retail and / or health sector considered an asset.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others, coach and mentor team members, offer constructive feedback, and foster a positive and enjoyable work environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-faced, dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with Senior Leadership and other support teams to influence and drive change.
