Amazon Security is looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager to lead security initiatives across Amazon's Healthcare Security organization. In this role, you will drive the Healthcare Security strategy and roadmap while collaborating with engineering teams to implement robust security controls that protect our customers' most sensitive information. Your scope includes establishing security frameworks, driving vulnerability management programs, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA.

This is a highly visible position where you'll partner with senior technical leaders and architects to influence security decisions that impact millions of customers. You'll be responsible for building scalable security programs that protect customer data while enabling the rapid growth of Amazon's healthcare business. Success in this role requires exceptional program management skills, deep technical acumen, strong business judgment, and the ability to lead through influence across organizational boundaries.

Key job responsibilities

- Driving the strategic, technical, and engineering direction of our Healthcare Security Operations Program.

- Leverage relationships with engineers across Healthcare Tech, clinical teams, and compliance leaders throughout Amazon to prioritize security initiatives, remove barriers, and strengthen our security processes.

- Protect sensitive health data, ensuring security measures scale with our rapidly growing healthcare business.

- Build trust with Principal Engineers and executive leaders by leveraging your technical expertise to understand healthcare-specific security challenges, design innovative solutions, and maintain rigorous security standards.

- Use your healthcare security expertise to champion and drive risk-based decisions across complex, multi-disciplinary programs to ensure Amazon properly manages security risk while enabling healthcare innovation.

- Balance security requirements with healthcare delivery needs, understanding security workflows, and maintaining strong security controls in a highly regulated environment.

- Work at the intersection of healthcare compliance, technical security, and business strategy to protect our customers' most sensitive health information.

A day in the life

This position within the Healthcare Security team represents a rare opportunity to get in with a fast-growing business. A successful candidate will bring deep technical security and software expertise, strong business acumen, and judgment. In this role, you will lead your team to partner with the engineering teams to deliver software services that are designed for security from the outset and launched with a high security bar.

You will continue to raise the security bar of services in production and ensure that there are mechanisms and metrics to improve security. You will define the right long-term security architecture partnering with our engineering leaders, and deliver innovative ideas to improve security across both internal and third-party services that we use to deliver the customer experience.

You will need to be an exceptional organizational leader, who can hire, grow and retain a diverse and talented team of security professionals to deliver this mission.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of technical program management experience

- Experience working directly with engineering teams

- Experience managing technical programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

- Understanding of SDLC and Architecture System Design with the ability to ensure functionality and tradeoffs in terms of scalability, maintainability, extensibility, performance, and security

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

- Experience working directly in or closely with a security organization

- Experience working within a healthcare or healthcare security organization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
