Position Summary:

The Director, Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will partner closely with assigned business unit leaders to co-create their respective people strategy that enables employee development, engagement, and achieves business unit results. The HRBP is embedded in the business units and is a member of the business unit leadership team to develop a deep understanding of the business unit objectives and people needs. The HRBP represents the "voice of the business" and focuses on people solutions that address business, employee and company needs. As part of the Ultragenyx HR service delivery model, the HRBP collaborates closely with the HRBP Team and brokers in subject matter expertise from HR specialist partners (internal and external) to deliver high impact solutions to the business units. The HRBP will maintain an overarching strategic view of the portfolio of solutions being delivered by HR to ensure solutions are aligned with the business unit people strategy. A key expectation of a Director, HR Business Partner will be to drive broader HR goals within the HR team and operate as a HRBP SME with our CoE across Human Resources.
Work Model:

Flex: This role will typically require onsite work 2-3 days each week, or more depending on business needs. In many locations, the business will set certain days each week that Flex employees are required to be onsite.

Responsibilities:
  • Development and delivery of people strategies that align with business unit strategic plans
  • Facilitate and drive people programs and initiatives (e.g. pay for performance and total rewards, workforce planning, talent review and planning, succession planning, taking a lead role in driving HR department-wide goals and initiatives)
  • Organizational diagnosis; Consultation to the business units on organizational design, structure and re-organizations
  • Lead culture and change efforts in partnership with the business unit leaders
  • Provide thought partnership to business unit leaders, managers and employees on a wide range of business topics
  • Provide group facilitation (business unit leadership team strategy discussions, brainstorming sessions, prioritization and decision-making meetings, team development)
  • Provide coaching to managers and employees on a myriad of issues including attendance warnings, policy violations, performance management, reasonable accommodation
Requirements:
  • BA/BS degree required, or equivalent; Graduate degree highly preferred
  • 10+ years' experience as an HR business partner with accountability for setting people strategy with business unit leaders with specific experience working in the Biotech industry highly preferred--specifically within entrepreneurial, fast-paced growth organizations
  • Experience in multiple HR specialist disciplines (i.e. employee relations, compensation, organization development, training, talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, benefits, etc.)
  • Ability to objectively gather data, synthesize findings, formulate and influence solutions and recommendations as it relates to resolving complex organizational dynamics to ensure a healthy work environment/best to place to work culture
  • Strong stakeholder management and proactive communication skills required to effectively manage projects, programmatic deliverables, and all areas of the HRBP role #LI-Hybrid


The typical annual salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.

Pay Range

$218,100-$269,400 USD
