Position summary: Responsible for traffic analysis using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision.

Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Under the direction of a senior engineer, perform traffic analyses/studies, traffic signal warrant analyses, interchange access reports (IARs), corridor studies, traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking plan development.
- Oversee collecting traffic volume, road and regulatory data.
- Contribute to the writing of draft reports including traffic impact studies
- Utilize engineering design software (SYNCHRO, HCS, etc.)
- Prepare engineering and design documents with proficiency
- Application of advanced techniques, theory, precepts and practices in small and large traffic engineering projects
- Occasionally required to gather offsite field data
- Other duties as assigned

Required Skills
- Proficient in discipline specific design software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Written and communication skills
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
- 5-10 years' experience in specialized discipline
Preferred Experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in NC and SC
- PTOE or PMP or desire to obtain within 1 year
- Proficient with Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, VISSIM
- Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
