EVP, Environmental Tower Leader

Key Objectives:

This leadership role is responsible for all aspects of Chubb's Environmental business including business strategy, operations, underwriting, profitability and business development for all segments of Environmental business in North America. The Environmental (ENV) Leader is responsible for maintaining Chubb's position as the premier provider of Environmental insurance in North America. The ENV Leader will develop and implement business strategies to achieve the company's objectives and drive profitable growth for the ENV Tower, which includes Commercial Insurance, Major Accounts, Small Commercial, and Westchester. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of environmental issues, regulatory frameworks, and the insurance landscape.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute the overall strategy for the environmental underwriting division, ensuring alignment with the company's growth and profitability objectives within each customer segment. Monitor and manage the financial performance of the environmental underwriting portfolio, including loss ratios, premium growth, and profitability.
  • Drive strategic vision for the future of the Environmental practice creating greater efficiencies in underwriting process and facilitating future growth in lower middle market and small customer segments.
  • Collaborate with other business units and departments to ensure alignment of underwriting strategies and processes. Strong focus on cross-selling.
  • Oversee the evaluation and analysis of environmental risks associated with underwriting policies, including Premises Pollution Liability, Contractors Pollution Liability and Storage Tank Liability.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of underwriters and product experts, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide training, development, and career path opportunities for ENV employees, ensuring continuous skills improvement, knowledge development, and leadership opportunity.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive positioning in the environmental insurance sector.
  • Identify market trends and developments within the environmental market segment, promote thought leadership, and develop and implement strategies to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and events, contributing to discussions on environmental risk management and insurance solutions.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in underwriting, with a focus on environmental risks and insurance products.
  • Proven track record of leadership in a senior underwriting role, preferably within a large insurance company.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Frequent travel required.

The pay range for the role is $260,000 to $325,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
