Job Description: Senior Director of Corporate Development - De Novos

Position Overview: The Senior Director of Corporate Development - De Novos is a key role responsible for executing on an important growth initiative for Surgery Partners. This will include both stand-alone de novo projects as well as working with our health system partnerships to execute on the de novo aspect of our shared strategy. This role will report into the VP of Health System Partnership and De Novos and is responsible for the fulsome de novo process including sourcing/identifying opportunities, evaluating and proving long term financial viability and running a successful syndication process. Specifically, this includes working closely with all necessary internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to physicians, practice leaders, all SP cross functional teams, and associated legal representatives.

Key Responsibilities:

De Novo Execution

  • Recruit and build relationships with key physicians and practice leader during the initial sales aspect of de novo process. Communicate effectively the SP and partnership value proposition while building key relationships.
  • Work with team to ensure market dynamics are strong to support a successful de novo and lifts up any existing SP market strategy.
  • Work to identify and vet viable real estate and building options. Work closing with SP facilities team as well as any third party architects and construction professionals to understand necessary inputs to project viability.
  • Gather necessary data and work with development team analysist to build working project proforma.
  • Assess proforma and offer feedback on go/no go and why.
  • Socialize project with key functional teams and corporate leaders to get buy-in and formal approval
  • Work with legal counsel to draft necessary project documents from PPM packets to lease agreements.
  • Run syndication process with physicians from start to finish.
  • Work closely with finance and treasury team to vet and secure any needed bank financing and associated legal documents. Guide physicians and health system partner, if applicable, through loan terms, guarantees and bank data requests.
  • Run point on project with physicians and partners until appropriate handoff to integration/operations with continued involvement, as necessary, through go-live.


High-end communication skills and emotional intelligence is a must as this this is both a highly cross functional role while also requiring strong relationship building skills with external stakeholders. Success depends largely on collaboration with key functional teams within the organization (i.e operations, integration, finance, clinical, managed care, and IT) and the ability to establish credibility and communicate our strong value position to potential physician investors and leaders.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare management, finance, or a related field.
  • MBA or other advanced degree is helpful


Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate development, facilities, or operations. Healthcare experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in healthcare de novos. Experience in ASC de novos is preferred.


Skills:

  • Understanding of the healthcare industry, including financial statements/proformas, market dynamics, and regulatory environments.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership abilities.
  • Expertise in managing complex projects and cross-functional teams.
